The daily life at the Boarding School offers a lot of opportunities for common activities. Both the Boarding School Teachers and the boarders arrange different activities during the school year. During the first days of the new school year, arrangements are made so you get to know the Boarding School and the town of Birkerød.
In one of the weekends of August all the boarders and the four teachers go for a trip which culminates with a barbeque in the evening.
During the school year several festive arrangements are made. At the traditional Christmas party, the kitchen serves a Danish Christmas dinner and the evening’s entertainment is provided via the talents of the boarders.
Some of the parties during the year are arranged by the boarders. Among them is the Halloween party and the two joint 18 years birthday parties, where creativity is let loose.
On the last Saturday in February an evening is held where old boarders can meet and share all their memories. The invitation can be found on the front page of the Boarding School home page.
The last party during the school year is to celebrate that the spring has arrived. After that everybody must concentrate on end of year tests or exams.
Besides the traditional events, there is a lot going on year round. There is a film club, an opera club, art and other creative events, sports activities and Christmas decorations day etc.
You can also participate in the activities of the day-school, that hosts study cafes, band, choir, musical, creative art and Friday gatherings and parties, where the highlight of the year is the School Prom (Kaffe-ballet). Read more about all the activites on the webpage Kultur på BG (in Danish).
In the course of the year, the boarders take turns arranging a joint event for the whole of the Boarding School. It ranges from cinema trips, theatre, bowling or a trip to the swimming pool.
Sporting opportunities are many and varied. A swimming pool and large sports centre are our neighbours and the day-school sport facilities can be used after school hours. The Boarding School also has its own fitness room, a cinema, an art room and study group rooms where all boarders have access.
The student council of the Boarding School holds 6 members, who are elected by peers in the halls. The council has an influence on the daily life on matters such as things to buy or ways to act in daily life. The council also helps to arrange events.
We emphasise that all boarders commit themselves to the community and by doing so; it is hard to have a dull time at BG’s Boarding School.
