As a boarder you will live a life with a good deal of personal freedom, where mutual trust between the students and staff is very important. There is an emphasis towards the management of this freedom in order for you to create your own rhythm and find a healthy balance between school and leisure time.
You are responsible to be a part of the community and to get involved. You will take part in a democracy with hall meetings and grand assemblies and in doing so you will contribute to the boarding life in all its facets.
You will be part of an open and tolerant environment with room for everybody’s differences. This goes for all aspects such as nationality, religion, culture etc.
You can read about our history and core values here. LINK (Michael ved ikke hvad det kommer til at være)
You will feel an international atmosphere, but it is a Danish Boarding School that is shaped by Danish traditions and history. See some of these here http://www.birke-gym.dk/bgkultur.htm

Rules
A Boarding School is a mini-society and therefore it is necessary that there are rules. You will find all of them in ”The Boarding School at Birkerød Gymnasium – ABC”.
Boarding School teachers
Four Boarding School teachers inhabit the premises together with their families. They are responsible for the daily care and supervision of the boarders and the School itself around the clock. There will always be an adult around to help with both big and small issues. The teacher on duty has a telephone on them at all times so that parents can call for direct contact if needed.
The meals
The kitchen staff ensures that healthy, varied and inspiring food is offered at all times. You will find freshly baked bread in the morning and always vegetables and salad at lunch. The evening meal consists of a buffet with bread and sandwich fillings and toppings. Sometimes a warm meal is served as well. At afternoon and evening tea you can enjoy fruit and bread.
The facilities
The Boarding School has 76 rooms distributed in 6 halls. Each hall has two bathrooms and a small tea kitchen. The rooms are equipped with a bed, a table, a chair and closet/shelves. Rooms are issued with cable access Internet.
There are the following common rooms to be enjoyed by all: Dining hall, living room, television room, study room with computer and printer/scanners, laundry rooms and various hobby rooms.
