The pre-IB is a one-year preparatory course aimed at those students who are not ready for direct entry into the IB diploma programme. It is taught in English, but the syllabus of the Pre-IB year is otherwise equivalent to that of the first year of the Danish Gymnasium.
In particular there will be a short course in general linguistics including latin, a short course in basic science, and a full year course of general study skills and trans-disciplinary topics.
The subjects in pre-IB are:
- Two main languages: English and Danish (either as mother tongue or foreign language)
- A third language: French or German (for those students who have at least 3 years' previous knowledge of that language)
- History and Social Studies
- Natural Sciences: two of the following: Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Physical Geography
- Mathematics
- Visual Arts or Music
