Term grades and Teacher-parent meetings 2024

The second term grades of the year for Pre-IB students will be released in Lectio on Friday 8 March at 4 pm. Once a year we have Pre-IB teacher-parent meetings where it is possible to have a 10-minute talk with some of your son’s or daughter’s teachers. The meeting Wednesday 3 April from 4 to 8 pm. is not mandatory, but an offer that we make for parents and students.

The second term grades of the year for Pre-IB students will be released in Lectio on Friday 8 March at 4 pm.

When assessing the term grades, we look for a minimum average of 4.0.

The students will also receive grades in Lectio on the following dates: End of Year grades: 17 May 2024 End of Year exam grades: 27 June 2024

Your son or daughter has a personal Lectio site where they can see their weekly schedules, homework, the list of written assignments and whether these have been handed in, their absences, and their term grades.

The grades will not be sent directly to you (unless your son/daughter is a boarder), so for you to see the grades, you will have to get access to them in Lectio together with your son or daughter. We encourage students to enter Lectio with their parents/guardians occasionally, as we consider it important to discuss schoolwork and school performance.

If your child is under 18 and will not share this information with you, you are welcome to contact their student counsellor to obtain the information.

We recommend attending the study café which takes place every Tuesday and Thursday after school if help is needed particularly in maths or sciences. A student can be assigned to a compulsory study hall once a week after school if we believe that it is needed to improve grades or if they do not hand in assignments.

Teacher-parent meetings Once a year we have Pre-IB teacher-parent meetings where it is possible to have a 10-minute talk with some of your son’s or daughter’s teachers. This meeting is not mandatory, but an offer that we make for parents and students.

This year, the consultations will take place on the following date:

Wednesday 3 April from 4 to 8 pm.

You must sign up for the meetings, and you sign up on your son’s or daughter’s personal Lectio site at school website: www.birke-gym.dk

Log on Lectio On the student’s personal front page (“Forside”), choose “Besvar: Forældrekonsultation”. After entering teachers, remember to save (“Gem”). NB! Even though the site does not change after you have saved, it has been saved.

You can prioritise five teachers whom you would like to meet. We will try to fulfil as many of your wishes as possible, but since some teachers have many classes, it might not be possible.

Important dates: Thursday, 14 March, 12 pm: Deadline for signing up Thursday, 21 March, 4 pm: Meeting plan released in Lectio

If you have any questions regarding the teacher-parents’ meeting, you are welcome to contact school secretary, Dorthe Palmquist Hansen, Phone +45 45168224 or email: dph@birke-gym.dk.

If you cannot attend the teacher-parent meetings on site, students are very welcome to “bring” their parents online on their own computer (teachers do not have time to go on and off due to many meetings, one after the other). Alternatively, please check the term grade comments given by the teachers. If you would like additional comments, you are welcome to contact the IB Office. We will then gather the information from the teachers and send it to you. We do not offer online meetings or arrange teacher-parent meetings on another day.

Students should attend the meetings with their parents. Regarding which teachers to book meetings with, we recommend focusing on subjects, your son or daughter find challenging and where advice is needed for improvement, as well as subjects important for getting into university.
